‘One does not simply walk into Morvah’
Today was a tough one. We left the North Inn in Pendeen after a quick cup of coffee and a stop at the Spar then headed across country to Morvah via a narrow path invaded by brambles and nettles to reach the SWCP about a mile away. As we move further north away from the beach side towns the path itself becomes the enemy; it’s not the constant ups and downs necessarily. The path of course follows the landscape and this part of the coast has numerous inlets for rivers and streams where the path dips down to cover the obstacle then scrambles back up the other side. The tumbling waterfalls and mossy ferns are beautiful, but the path is painfully narrow, sometimes just a boot width and is strewn with boulders and, if not boulders then, loose scree, all of which makes progress agonizingly slow. The stats above don’t do this walk justice; we walked solidly from 8.30am to 4.00pm and didn’t cover much ground. The weather though did come through; sunshine with a very light breeze.
St Ives and Carbis Bay where we are staying was missing the G7 excitement of last week. Gone were the military escorts and Michelin chefs. Eating has not been a problem so far, given the amount of calories we are burning…
Today saw far more stiles, both stone and wooden, so our average improved significantly.
Dinner at Becks, lovely grilled Sole and a pint each of Atlantic Ale. Then to bed at our beautiful B&B The Mustard Tree. mustard-tree.co.uk

Excuse me about the elevation, I think I understand now after paying a little better attention. I’m more excited about this every day. I get up early to see your next entry.
Ha ha! Sorry to disappoint with the late posting on the 24th – no WiFi!!!
Well done on a tough stage , you can see just from the map how challenging the terrain is,at least you have sun and wonderful views did you see the man with seven wives by the way
We saw many people on the way to St Ives, none of them cat sack bearing.
Great smiles!
I thought you found a fence from the stock photography!!!! And wow look at that view!!!
The views are fantastic. Do you like our stiles? They vary here from stone to wood to metal. The website is working great oh mighty creator!
