A Day Out….
On our first post Day Five freedom day, we take the train to Oxford and manage to do more than 10,000 steps, somehow shaking off the torpor of quarantine.
We take a guided tour, the theme being Morse and are surprised to find our fellow visitors all of a similar age and hair colour.
Blackwell’s – best bookstore in Britain or arguably, the world.
Meanwhile a certain level of apprehension mounts as Tuesday looms large. Lost somewhat in the intense planning and preparation is that we are about to walk 833 miles to Scotland. This makes our previous walks rather tame; Offa’s Dyke in two bits in 2013 and 2017, half the North Downs Way in 2011, half the Ridgeway in 2004 and the Backbone Trail in stages from 2015 to 2018.
And, after a week of overly warm weather, it’s raining!
