Although we wore our rain gear yesterday and it failed to rain, today we decided to test the rain gods and wear our normal hiking clothes. We were lucky as although it was overcast in the morning, most of the rest of the day brought sunshine. Starting off immediately east of Henley we climbed the Mount, site of a medieval castle, and then the landscape switched between small woodland stretches, crop fields, pasture and a sprinkling of residential. Soon we were back on the towpath of the Stratford-upon-Avon canal and followed it north all the way to Kingswood, where it met up with the Grand Union. Just a little further on we found a pub next to the water and had soup. The afternoon walk was through similar countryside. Our lunch main course was a Cornish pasty and the location was a sheep field, sitting on the ground with our backs against a metal fence. Luxury! No injuries so far but Jeri is suffering from hay fever and Tim is still suffering neck pain from the vigorous dancing on Sunday at the Shotteswell Platinum Jubilee festival (a spacehopper was involved).
