Return to LEJOG 2022

Getting into Shape – Friday 3rd June, 2022

The aim in 2022 is to complete two shortish sections which we missed last year due to injury; the 100 miles from Long Marston to Thorpe and the 20 miles from Bridgwater to Wells. Today we had a practice walk around Kings Wood in Kent with our friends Keith, Jeanne, Debbie, Paul, John & Alec. It was just over 7 miles through mostly woodland paths and crops of hay, wheat, barley and broad beans. The weather complied, but we are fairly sure that next week’s will not be so nice.

The woods were lovely (dark and deep). Lunch was at the George in Molash, with multiple courses to chose from including duck breast, sea bass, chicken, salmon and mackerel with Harveys Sussex Best to wash it down with. Unfortunately the church at Molash was closed. Our group has been doing these walks consistently since 1987 and today marked the 300th such walk, though the two of us can only claim to have walked a fraction of those because of where we live. Also today marked day two of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee and the bunting and the flags were out in force.
