Rest Days Glastonbury & Wells

Pints: 2
Cathedrals: 1

Well we knew this might happen at some point. Tim’s right foot was getting more painful so first thing on Tuesday morning we took a taxi to the minor injuries unit at Bridgwater Community Hospital. He was seen quickly, prescribed antibiotics and rest. So Tuesday and Wednesday were spent in Glastonbury and Wells, arriving there by bus.

The cathedral in Wells is stunning; by some measure the earliest gothic cathedral in England. The font dates from late Anglo Saxon times, in other words pre-conquest and was moved from the older cathedral which the present one replaced. The medieval clock dates from 1325, one of the oldest in the world. The scissor arches supporting the central tower are unique.
